The impact of dust explosions is disastrous; appropriate basic engineering solutions can help to significantly reduce or completely prevent the damage incurred.
The concepts developed by Zeppelin Reimelt ensure that your new plant will comply with all legal requirements to explosion protection (ATEX directives). We can even retrofit existing plants to make them explosion-proof and ATEX conform.
A considerable number of dust explosions world-wide is caused by workplace humanization and its measures to control the air quality. In order to prevent air pollution, adequate dust extraction systems are installed at workplaces. This measure, however, inevitably increases the amount of fine dust accumulated in filters and collecting bins. Furthermore, high-speed machinery and automatic conveying equipment also contribute to a significantly higher percentage of fine dust. The risk of explosion rises drastically with superfine dust particles: the smaller the dust particle, the bigger the particle surface and therefore the force of the explosion.
